Week 4 Blog Post

Through this class, we learned the ideas of the 5E model. The 5 parts of the 5E model are engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. Each of these 5 parts has ways the student and the teacher can be engaged and how each person plays a role. For example, when talking about evaluating, this is to see how well each student is doing and asses them either informally or formally through different types of assessments. This helps the teacher know how well the students are doing and how well the teachers themselves are teaching and also helps the students understand how well they are understanding what is going on in class. I think I can use the 5E model in my future classroom by incorporating it into my everyday lessons because each one brings in a different part of teaching. Another thing we did in class was look over our seeds from the last class. This was really interesting because they grew so much and I was not expecting this. I can use this experiment in my future classroom because it gives the students something to look forward to each class to see how well their plants are
growing.

  1. Hello, Megan!
The 5E model was new to me, but I found it to be very necessary when it comes to being a future teacher. It gives a nice order to how to teach students that will help them develop and deepen their understanding. I hope your plant continues to grow! Good job, Megan!

The 5E model was also new to me, but I also found it important to bring into education and even our future teaching! I enjoyed the picture of your fast growing plant!

  3. Hi Megan! I enjoyed how you will implement the 5E model into your classroom. I also liked how you explained the importance of it and how it has benefits for the student and educator. Your fast plants looks great! Very similar to mine because one of the boxes did not grow. Good job!
