  What did you do in lab today? This week in lab we learned about the blanket of Earth. This was because of the green house gases and our emission into the atmopshere. We also learned that in the winter there are more greenhouse because the plants are dead and the plants are what take in the CO2. In the summer there is lesss CO2 because the plants are alive and taking in the CO2 that we are breating out or producing. What was the main lab question? What is the blanket of the Earth? What did you learn in Thursday's discussion? In lecture this week, we discussed climate change and the process of how we got to where we are today. Humans have not been around that long and the Earth use to be able to regulate itself before humans.   What did you do in lab today? In lab today we, we help figure out why the Goldfinch is in danger in Iowa. We got to look at 5 articles, and learn facts in these articles about cliamte change. We also got to make a statment and ask questions. I thought this was very imformative for me as someone who lives in Iowa 9 months out of the year.  What was the main lab question? How do we know that the Goldfinch is in danger in Iowa? What did you learn in Thursday's discussion? In lecture we discussed  Online Textbook: What did you learn? One thing I learned was that melting sea ice is affecting more than just the Arctic. It is affecting our entire world. These sea ices are the air conditioning for the world, and the melting is drastically changing.  What was most helpful? One thing that was very helpful was the part of glacier retreat. Week 12 Blog Post

  What did you do in lab today? This week in lab we got to investiage and talk about the movie that we watched before hand. Also, we got to investigate the rain fall in different areas of the state. I invsitedgated with my team then north and south centeral region. This was interesting becuase there was a 98% increase for us in one of our sections which didn't seem right at first, however then we realized it depended on which cities we chose. I also thought it was interesting seeing how much they had increased over the many years.  (Also my phone broke tuesday morning, so I do not have any photos from this week because they were on that phone!)   What did you do in lab today? This week in lab, we got to discuss about the layers of rocks and how to tell how old the rocks are. We also got to investiagate rocks and guess which rock was made in the different ways, weather it was water, glacier, or wind. I thought this was really interesting becaues I have never gotten to do something like this.  What was the main lab question? What is climate? What is the older part of a rock structure? What did you learn in Thursday's discussion? In lecture this week, we got to discuss gold and how people learned about gold. Gold is the heaviest thing so it would sink to the bottom of the water. It was also interestign guessign whever the soda would sink or float.  Online Textbook: What did you learn? Something that I learned was that the tempature of the ocean can affect the tempature of the the air that passes over it. This was really interesting to me becuase this is soemthing that I didn't and also would like to learn more info...

  What did you do in lab today? This week in lab we got to discuss the investigate the different types of rocks and how they are made. We got to use starbust and a small blow torch to form and shape the different rocks. The picture below shows the different rocks we made and two of the rocks at different stages of theri formation. We also talk a lot about our exam that we jsut took and went over those ideas as well.  What was the main lab question? How are rocks formed? What did you learn in Thursday's discussion?  This week in lecture, I learned about plate tectonics, and how pangea happened. The idea of pangea shows the reason while plate tectonics conintue to move. We also learned about ridges and how the ridges tell us how old it would be on the coastline.  Online Textbook: What did you learn? Week 9 Elementary Science

  What did you do in the lab today? In lab this week I learned about how long ago big events happened that shaped how our Earth came to be. My group had 2000MYA - 500MYA which was really interesting because I thought more was gonna happen during this period, but there were only a few major events that did happen. I didn't realize when different things, like when plants were created, were closer then I thought, so it was really interesting.  What was the main lab question? History of the Universe What did you learn in Thursday's discussion? EXAM WEEK Online Textbook: What did you learn? One this that I learned that was very interesting was the idea that humans only have come at the very end of the clock reference, we are considered 11:59:40, which is really crazy to me. Week 8 Blog Post

  What did you do in lab today? In lab this week, we all presented about our different topics about space. My group presented on the idea about black holes and were they came from and facts. Talking about galaxies were something that intruigued me this week. It is so crazy to think about the idea that there are an insane amount of planets and we are probally not the only humans or living things on a planet. What was the main lab question? What are the different parts of the universe backgrounds? What did you learn in Thursday's discussion? In lecture this week we talked about the idea of the orgin of the unverise.
