Week 10 Blog Post

In this week's class, we learned about adaptations and how they work with our everyday environment. We also played a game where we learned about natural selection. In this game, we have 100 black, white, and brown beans. We each were the predators while the beans were the prey and we had to use a spoon, knife, or fork to try and pick up the beans. This showed how natural selection and how adaptions work. Natural selection is when an animal either changes or adapts to the new changing environment. I think that this game would be a good way for the students to get an idea of how natural selection works and the basic ideas of natural selection and adaptation.

This is us showing the way we picked up the beans and put it into the cup.

I enjoyed how you showed a picture of you demonstrating scooping the beans into the cup. Personally, I had the spoon the entire time too. I felt that game was super fun and interactive even though we already knew what evolution was!

  2. Hi Megan!
I also believe the simulation we did in class would be a good activity to use in our future classrooms! I like how you explained what we did for the activity and what we were supposed to be learning from the activity.
