Week 13 Blog Post

This week was really interesting to me. We got to really dive deep into the M&M experiment we tried last week and got to change different variables. It was also interesting to hear about the other tables because we all got to experiment with different ideas and use different ways to find them. One thing that I learned was the capture of the water influenced how fast the colors bled. Overall, the orange M&M bled the fastest while the blue bled the slowest. It was also interesting to see that the sugar water made the colors bleed very slowly and contained around the M&M, while the waters with no sugar bled and spread. Overall, I thought this activity was really fun and interesting to complete and think about. I think this would be a great activity to complete in an elementary classroom to get them to start thinking about ideas like this one.

  1. Hi Megan!
I also thought this activity was very interesting, and I think if we think it is interesting as older students, then young students will definitely find it interesting as well because they are very curious people. It is very interesting to see your M&Ms in the sugar water because our group did not do that experiment, so we did not get to see how slowly the colors spread.

  2. Hi Megan! I also thought this was a fun activity. I think elementary students would love to do this. My group didn't do the sugar water so it was interesting to hear what your group saw.

  3. Hi Megan! I also found this activity very interesting and fun. Something that is different from my lab group is that the yellow and brown M&Ms bled and spread the fasted for us. The blue was also one of the slowest for us. I also believe that this would be a great activity to use in future classrooms!

  4. Megan, Megan, Megan.... I am worried about our results!! The m&m that bled the quickest for my partner and I was the yellow one :) I agree, it was a blast diving deeper into this experiment, keep up the exquisite work!
