Week 1 Elementary Science 2
- The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did.
In class this week we got to create a race where one student, the slower student, would get a head start if they were racing. We had to figure out how much time or the length the person would get as a head start. I think it was really interesting when we were trying to figure it out because some people had them walk, and some people had them hopping on one foot, which made it hard when we did the full group race.
- A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture.
In Thursday's lecture, we talked about how much of a head start each of the things would get. For example, we talked about if the bike or the car would get a head start, and how much that head start would be to the destination. In the end, we figured out the formula that we would use.
- Answer questions about the weekly textbook reading:
- What did you learn?
- In this week's textbook, we learned about motion, distance, and position and described it. We also learned about the differences between speed and velocity.
- What was most helpful?
- I think the most helpful part of this text was the recap on the differences between speed and velocity. It's difficult for me to remember certain things from elementary school, so having this recap was very helpful.
- What do you need more information on?
- I think I need more information on how to explain these concepts to young students. Continuing to do experiments in class has been a good and easy way to figure this out.
