Week 8 Blog Post

This week in class, we learned about the ideas of DNA and RNA. In this topic, we learned the differences between the four bonds within. For example, in DNA the four bonds are A and T and then C and G. In RNA there is no T, so the letters are A and U and then C and G. This is how the strands work. We also learned about mutations and how they can affect the DNA strand and also how a mutation works in a DNA strand. This was really interesting to learn about and can benefit my future students because it will help them also understand the way they look. Lastly, once again, we looked at our plant and got to see the growth of our plant. Unfortunately, it is getting very dry and starting to die a little. Overall, I enjoyed learning about DNA and RNA this week.

Our plant from this week!

  1. Hello, Megan! My partner and I's plant has begun the stages of dying as well. I am not sure what else we could do for it to help it grow due to the fact that the lifespan of these plants are relatively short, I believe. I see seeds within your planet growing off though, which is a good sign! Great job, Megan!

  2. Hi Megan! I loved how you described what U is, I was very confused with how it plays a role with DNA and RNA! My plant is also struggling a bit, it is very dry and one of the stems broke.

  3. Hi Megan! Your plant is looking great! I think it is cool to understand DNA in order to conceptualize our phenotypes! Nice work!
